The ectoparasitoid habit of larvae and the active predatory habit of adults of Aleochara Gravenhorst, 1802 established this group as natural fly regulators and important for ecological studies, biological control programs and forensic entomology. In the current study, a new aleocharine species, Aleochara pseudochrysorrhoa sp. nov., from southern Brazil, is described and its natural history is briefly discussed. The species has a robust body, uniformly dark-brown to black with apex of abdomen rust-brown, median lobe of male with expanded bulbus, sclerites of internal sac forming complex arrangement, and female with spermatheca L-shaped. Alguns aspectos do comportamento e biologia de Sennius bondari (Pic, 1929) (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae, Bruchinae) foram avaliados em sementes de Senna macranthera (Collad.) Irwin & Barn. (Caesalpinaceae). Esta espécie é registrada pela primeira vez como hospedeira de S. bondari. O estudo foi realizado em sementes infestadas, coletadas em Curitiba, Paraná. Os ovos foram depositados preferencialmente na margem da semente. Durante o desenvolvimento larval, os cotilédones e a testa são parcialmente consumidos. A câmara pupal é construída dentro da semente. O ciclo de vida durou cerca de 140 dias, com fêmeas depositando seus ovos do oitavo ao 73º dia. To evaluate the reliability of data obtained by Winkler extraction in Atlantic forest sites in southern Brazil, we studied litter beetle assemblages in secondary forests (5 to 55 years after abandonment) and old-growth forests at two seasonally different points in time. For all regeneration stages, species density and abundance were lower in April compared to August; but, assemblage composition of the corresponding forest stages was similar in both months. A new species, Myllaena brasiliensis sp. nov., is described and illustrated; it is closely related to the insomnis species group, described from the Nearctic region. A short diagnosis of the genus and an annotated catalog of Myllaena species from the Neotropical region are also provided. The rove beetles of the genus Paederus Fabricius, 1775 are the most important group within Coleoptera causing dermatitis around the world. The medical importance of Paederus depends on its toxic hemolymph released when these beetles are crushed on human skin. The effects are mainly dermatitis linearis and some sporadic cases of conjunctivitis.
